Police say two people were killed in a single-engine plane crash near Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador.

In a statement on Sunday, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has its officers, the Western Labrador Ground Search and Rescue Team, iron ore company guards, paramedics, and firefighters responding to the Flora Lake area east of Wabush. 

Police said the plane was found and two people were found dead at the scene. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada states that it is collecting information about the crash. 

A TSB spokesman is investigating a report that an amateur Murphy rebel plane with two people on board crashed in a lake near Wabush on Saturday afternoon said Police.

 The plane had been removed from the area and investigations into the crash were underway.
