2 killed in weekend Newfoundland collisions

Two men are dead following weekend hits in Newfoundland, say the RCMP. 

A 54-year-old man died in a single-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon close to Cottrell’s Cove on Newfoundland’s central coast.

In a release sent Monday, the RCMP stated the man — who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt — was thrown from the car and died at the scene. 

Officers from Grand Falls-Windsor responded at about 4:15 p.m. and shut down Route 352 for a few hours.

Two men are dead following weekend hits in Newfoundland, say the RCMP

The RCMP says a collision critic investigated the crash site, and the chief medical examiner’s office is still analyzing.

A 49-year-old man was killed on Saturday after hitting his quad in Ming’s Bight, around Baie Verte, along the island’s north coast.

In a release sent Monday afternoon, Baie Verte RCMP says they got a report of a collision on Main Street around 3 a.m. Saturday, and when officers replied, the driver was found dead at the scene.

Police say he wasn’t wearing a helmet.
