Four armed thefts at St. John’s area businesses over the weekend

There were four armed thefts in the St. John’s area over the weekend, said the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in press releases on Sunday and Monday.

The first three happenings occurred at three different businesses on Saturday.

In all three happenings, staff reported a male suspect came with a weapon and demanded money. In the first happening, the man allegedly ran without getting any cash. In the second and third thefts, the male suspect collected cash. In all three occurrences, the suspect fled the area on foot.

According to the RNC, two of the stealings occurred in the east end of St. John’s, while a third happened in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

The RNC said it’s investigating any potential link between the three happenings on Saturday, and it’s not yet apparent whether the same suspect was concerned in all robberies. 

On Sunday, the RNC responded to a report of an armed theft at a gas station in the east end of St. John’s. According to a press release on Monday, police arrested a 19-year-old-man and a 22-year-old female.
